Dutch designer Brechtje Olsthoorn’s favourite childhood memories are of wearing pretty hand-made dresses created by her mother, who just happens to be one of the founders and creative strength behind the now world famous brand Oilily. The company introduced spectacular colour combinations and unusual fabrics to an industry that, at that time, was quite simply dull! Inheriting this huge creativity, Brechtje founded her own highly succesful label, Room Seven, in 1994, focusing on children’s clothing, bed linen, bags and wallpaper, and this year her very first collection of tableware. As a student Brechtje started to amass her own remarkable tableware collection, taking inspiration from everything from worldwide travels through to local jumble sales and antique shops. And the result - her first fabulous tableware range entitled Winter Poppy, a beautiful collection of striking red and pink florals with echoes of traditional afternoon tea combined with the warmth and romance of the Far East.
